Ever since I had my daughter I knew newborn photography was where my heart was. I have been lucky enough to find some wonderful mentors and friends in this industry. Any career in an art field can feel isolating and it can be competitive. I choose to see it as an opportunity for friendships, for making an impact on someone’s life, and for creating something irreplaceable. This preview was from an amazing mentor session with Lori Baskin of Lori Baskin Photography.
I learned so much that day. We went through how to transition the baby and parents through the session quickly and efficiently. She showed me how to calm a fussy and cluster feeding baby (which came in handy a few newborn sessions later!). Most importantly, she showed me how to beautifully photograph an unposed baby and how to let the baby lead what they need for the session. The result is simple, natural, classic images that make my heart flutter.
