This summer, we lived close by the Thames river. I went for a few runs but didn’t really love the route until Michael found this pathway along the river frequented by many avid runners, walkers, and rowers. It was a gorgeous trail. Every morning I ran alongside it I had this thought of, “This is crazy. I’m running along the Thames. I must be the luckiest girl.” I thought it would lose its charm, but it really never did. It was a park filled with wildflowers and on one bank you could view Christchurch meadow, and on the other were private horse farms and polo fields.
Along the path there were these small grass shorn paths along offshoots of the river. One morning, curiosity got the better of me and it opened into this beautiful little forest nook. I saw the sun rising and twinkling through the trees and knew, THIS was where we were going to take some family pictures. The morning we decided to head out was perfect. We were expecting rain, but it held off and instead we were met with beautiful fluffy clouds and golden light. I knew my girl might need some extra motivation so I packed some berries for her to snack on. Those might just be my favorite pictures. She really went after them. There were geese around on the water and she was mesmerized. It was all I could do to keep her from jumping in the water after them. I’ll never forget those mornings along the river.
