You guys, I am obsessed with holidays. Especially wintertime as we head towards Christmas. There’s just so much cheer everywhere and everyone is filled with goodwill. I love the community of it and the relationships. It’s also a good reminder for me to refocus and center my thoughts on what really matters and put gratitude towards God for the wonderful life He has given me.
It begins with Halloween. As someone who’s lived in fantasy novels and is daydreaming all the time, there really is nothing better than getting to dress up. Especially now with a child who it really is magic for. It’s just plain good fun. The candy doesn’t hurt either. Thanksgiving is all about baking and a lot of my favorite foods so you really can’t go wrong. Every year I start off with homemade cinnamon rolls, coffee, and mimosas. Then the rest of the day is spent in the kitchen with family.
Finally there’s Christmas. And presents. Man I love presents. Gifts are my love language and I am brimming to the full of it by the end of December. Starting now Christmas carols are just blasting from everywhere I can get them to play. One of my favorite traditions is seeing the Nutcracker. I saw it for the first time when I was in college and it completely mesmerized me. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen. While I never grew up with the Santa story, my husband did and he cannot wait to share all the Santa fun with Rory. I saw these little bottoms last year and I had to get them for her and do a little Christmas cookie shoot. Also, how little was she! Stop growing up so fast!
