This outdoor session was right on the cusp of winter and spring. We had a questionable weather forecast, except for the day of the session. Still, as a family photographer I like to be extra prepared, so I had backup plans for my backup plans. Her momma and I even talked about doing the session in the snow, to which she said, “Seriously, you will have no trouble convincing our children to go outside in any weather”. Worries were set aside after that!
Usually, you see family outdoor sessions with an abundance of green and vibrant naturescapes, and if I’m honest, it’s what I gravitate towards myself. This session has just a teensy bit of green. Just the whisper of spring arriving, but I sort of love the muted colors. The park was soft and quiet, and there was such beauty in the hush of winter.
We all had so much fun, just walking the park’s paths. The girls took turns holding their momma’s hands. They giggled with delight from daddy’s kisses. They ran curiously through the trails and twirled in the trees. It was tough for them, getting their pictures taken (said with the utmost of sarcasm). Sessions with me aren’t work, and they aren’t structured posed. I do prompt, because if you’re awkward like me you need a bit of direction please and thank you, but I just want to guide you to interacting with your kids, because that’s where I find the treasured images are hiding.
