We settled into quite a comfortable routine in Europe. I’d wake up early and run along the Thames River before everyone else woke up. We’d suffer through the worst french press homemade coffee in the world until Kelsey, my sister in law, would take pity on herself (which ultimately benefited me) and walk the long mile or so to get us coffee made by someone more competent. Rory and I would have our special Wednesdays just for us to explore and enjoy together. Michael and I would sneak out for a date night and try to find the oldest bars we could find. I loved going to all the old pubs, but we stumbled upon Raouls one night and I instantly loved it. It had this swanky mid-century feel to it and I found my new all time time favorite cocktail, the Jacobite, which breaks my heart I can no longer get. I have yet to find or make a suitable replacement.
One of the places on my absolute must see was Stonehenge. Was it touristy? Most definitely. But it was one of the most awesome sights we saw the whole summer. It truly took my breath away. Rory did not quite get what the fuss was about, but she definitely wanted to get closer and we quickly realized we would have to watch her or she’d slip right under those ropes and run to the stones. We also visited Blenheim, a local palace where Winston Churchill was born and grew up. The library there was incredible. It felt like Belle’s from Beauty in the Beast. Yeah, THAT library. Except it was pink. Basically it was made for me and I now need that to happen in our forever home (sorry Michael).
