Arriving in Oxford after such a trying trip to Iceland was a welcome relief. We immediately saw Rory improve with familiar surroundings and a consistent routine. We began to explore this new place which would be our home for the next five weeks and almost immediately fell in love with its charm, history, and lifestyle.
I planned to work one day a week on eastern time zone to be more available to my employees. This worked out amazingly because Rory and I got to spend the morning together and explore the city. I planned trips to the market or wandering around the botanical garden. We visited museums and old colleges. We shared breakfast in historical Oxford feasting on croissants and other yummy treats. It was honestly the most special of mornings and I treasured every minute and hour I got to spend with her in this experience abroad.
Oxford was like stepping back in time. Everything just feels old, in an enchanting way. It reminds me of when you walk into an old forest, you just feel small and young compared to all it’s seen. It was a little bit of the same. I would stare in awe and wonder how many generations stories’ have unfolded behind those walls. My favorite trip we took was to the botanical garden. There were rows upon rows of beautiful flower beds all in full, glorious bloom. It was all fenced in and protected so Rory could run and explore to her heart’s content. This little girl loves to run wild and did so every chance she would get.
